I lost my sense of smell 25 years ago but I still love beer and have just started brewing my own. I don't drink the same kinds of beers I used to because those beers now seem pretty bland . Anosmia is the name of this condition and although it is seldom curable it is certainly better than losing any other sense. Not smelling does not mean not tasting! This is a common misconception. Sure ,it is not the same as when you can smell but you can still detect some flavors . If I have a yeast lag and the beer gets "cidery " I can tell. The aroma is indeed missing. You can save money by eliminating the dry hop! Priorities just change . Mouthfeel , IBU's , sweetness , esters , ABV are now readily apparent. Porters, stouts , dubbels , IPA's are now my favorites. Things change. Just
go with it.
